Biafra:Dullard Buhari is a Boko Haram sympathiser, US foreign policy expert tells Obama

 

Foreign policy expert Richard Grenell has warned the Obama administration to “wake up” to the growing threat of Nigeria turning into an Islamic state, leading to other African nations also capitulating to Muslim extremists.

In an opinion column for The Washington Times, Grenell revealed that a leading candidate in the Nigerian general election later this month is a sympathiser of the Boko Haram terror group and plans to install strict Sharia Law if he’s elected.

General Mohammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress is facing off against incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan on March 28 in the African continent’s most populous country.

Buhari has spoken defensively about Boko Haram, even though the evil group has kidnapped and enslaved hundreds of young girls. And he has been personally been selected by the terrorists to lead its negotiations with the government.

“Western foreign policy observers pre-occupied with the rise of ISIS in the Middle East should wake up to the reality unfolding in Nigeria,” wrote Grenell, a former spokesman for four United States Ambassadors to the United Nations, most recently Ambassador Zal Khalilzad.

“Buhari’s election as head of state would be a disaster for Africa. It would also signal trouble for the West’s fight against the Islamic State (ISIS) and terrorism throughout the Middle East. The decision by the 73 million registered Nigerian voters could have a profound impact on the future of Africa.”

Buhari even appears to be advocating violence while pushing for the moral and religious code of Sharia Law, according to Grenell.

“I will continue to show openly and inside me the total commitment to the Sharia movement that is sweeping all over Nigeria,” Buhari said. “God willing, we will not stop the agitation for the total implementation of the Sharia in the country.”

But Grenell wrote, “Agitation? Is this an indication that Mr. Buhari supports violence because the end goal of the terrorist attacks throughout Nigeria and Africa is an Islamic state? It is a legitimate question that should be asked by leaders of the Obama administration.”

Boko Haram, which has pledged its support to ISIS, is based in northern Nigerian and hopes to rule the country with Sharia Law.

The group, which recently killed 54 people in Nigeria by using four suicide bombers, is also taking terrorist actions in neighboring Chad, Niger and Cameroon to force them to adopt an Islamic state as well.

Grenell warned that Nigeria could become “a tipping point” in Africa in the same way that Tunisia kicked off the Arab Spring in the Middle East.

“The West, and specifically the Obama Administration, needs to wake up to the growing problem,” wrote Grenell. “The Nigerian economy has been growing faster than South Africa’s. Imagine what Nigeria could do for Africa if it was also free of Boko Haram’s violence.

“The Obama administration should be doing more to ensure Africa’s most populous country doesn’t slip away.”

Biafra:‘Boko Haram terrorists now disguise as herdsmen to attack Taraba’

A Senator yesterday raised the alarm over the infiltration of towns and villages in Taraba State by Boko Haram insurgents fleeing from military bombardment.
The issue which came under a motion tagged: “The need to urgently flush out Boko Haram insurgents re-assembling in Taraba and halt the ongoing silent genocide in the state”, was sponsored by Senator Emmanuel Bwacha (PDP, Taraba South).
Bwacha said the fleeing insurgents were relocating to safe havens in Taraba. He reminded his colleagues of an incident that occurred on February 10 when a notorious Boko Haram kingpin, Kabiru Sokoto, who masterminded the bombing of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Madala in Niger State on Christmas Day 2014, was arrested in Mutum-Biya in Taraba State.
He recalled how the former military Director of Information, Major-General Chris Olukolade, revealed that suspects arrested in Gidin Dorowa in Taraba confessed to be Boko Haram terrorists.
He said the suspects had confessed that they were involved in terrorism in Borno and Yobe states and that they were sent to Taraba to continue with their mission under the guise of herdsmen. 

Bwacha said: “There is a change of tactics by these insurgents who now parade as herdsmen to make it more difficult for the unsuspecting public to identify them. The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Solomon Arase, recently confirmed that the herdsmen involved in most of the senseless killings are not the same Fulani we know. They go about grazing with AK 47 rifles. The insurgents caught with over 300 cows in Borno State by the JTF, adds credence to the assertion.
“These Boko Haram attackers, masquerading as Fulani herdsmen, have killed over 2, 000 people between December 2013 to date in the state. The killings, kidnappings and destruction of property by these terrorists are still ongoing. Some villages are near extinction because of activities of these people. The rampaging Boko Haram insurgents have over-concentrated their activities in the central and southern parts of the state,” he said.
The Senator representing Kaduna Central who is Chairman, Senate Committee on Foreign and Domestic Debts, Shehu Sanni, failed in his bid to compel lawmakers take a stand against tagging Fulani herdsmen as terrorists. His position was overwhelmingly rejected by the Senate.

Boko Haram Terrorists Hit Yola After Claims Of Victory By Nigeria Army

A bomb blast went off at at the Jimeta Divisional Police Headquarters in Yola, Adamawa State capital on Thursday, February 25, 2016.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has confirmed four persons dead in the accidental explosion that occurred around 11:44am.

A statement signed by Senior Information Officer, NEMA, Mr Sani Datti, said the explosion nearby Jimeta Primary School, Post Office, old NITEL building and some neighbouring houses were affected.

The state Commissioner for Information, Malam Ahmad Sajoh, disclosed that the injured persons were taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Yola where they were treated and discharged.

The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, Mohammed Gazali has said that the explosion which occurred at a police station on Thursday, February 25, 2016 was caused by a bomb which was in the station’s store.

Gazali said further that the bomb involved had been recovered from Boko Haram and was being kept as an exhibit.

He said: “Policemen were mostly affected and we don’t know the actual casualties for now as the place is not yet safe for us to go in.”

According to a report on Huffington’s World Post, the former United States Ambassador to Nigeria and Senior fellow for Africa Policy Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations, Mr. John Campbell  has said the Nigerian Military lacks the capacity to manage the country ordinarily and unprepared for a challenge like Boko Haram.

John Campbell said; “Nigeria’s military is chronically under-resourced — low on numbers, equipment and morale, Pham said. “Even if Nigeria was at peace, the military would not be commensurate with the size and importance of the country, let alone a country facing a challenge like Boko Haram,” he told The WorldPost.

Concerning the war against Boko Haram, Amb. Campbell said;  “It would take a highly sophisticated military supported by an extremely strong government to carry out such a task,” Campbell said. “The U.S. couldn’t do it in Afghanistan or Iraq.”

He said that the group’s tenacity also suggests some measure of popular support in the marginalized northeast, particularly as a form of rebellion against corrupt local religious elites. “This makes the conflict more akin to a civil war, and makes it even harder to achieve a decisive military victory over a single force,” Campbell said.

A day after returning from official visits to Kenya and Ethiopia, President Muhammadu Buhari will be visiting France and the UK. This is happening as Boko Haram has unleashed mayhem on residents of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital which they are battling to take.

According to Femi Adesina, his special adviser on media and publicity, Buhari will first stop at Strasbourg in France before departing for Britain on February 3, where he will address a special session of the European Union Parliament. 

Adesina explained that the parliament session would be attended by members of the executive and legislative arms of the union. “The president’s address is expected to focus on terrorism, violent extremism, corruption, Nigeria and Africa’s current security, economic and developmental challenges, as well as the need for greater support from the European Union and advanced nations for their rapid resolution,” Adesina said in a statement. 

“President Buhari will also hold talks with the president of the European Parliament, Mr. Martin Schulz and the president of the European Commission, Mr. Jean-Claude Juncker on the same issues before leaving Strasbourg for London to join other world leaders at the Supporting Syria and The Region Conference scheduled to open in the British capital on Thursday, February 4, 2016. 

“The president will use the opportunity of his participation in the conference which is being co-hosted by Britain, Germany, Norway, Kuwait and the United Nations to continue his push for more global understanding, collaboration and support for Nigeria and other countries in the frontlines of the war against terrorism who are striving to overcome its very adverse effects on affected populations.
