Unexploded ordinance found at a building in Enugu
The Enugu State Police Command, through its Explosive Ordinance Department, EOD, also known as Anti-Bomb Unit, on Saturday, recovered a bomb that had not exploded, from a building site, being part of the civil war explosives buried in the ground in the affected areas. The object was recovered from the building site located around Nigeria Television Authority,NTA, Hostel axis of Ogui, in Enugu metropolis. Sunday Vanguard gathered that artisans working at the site dug up the object which caused mild panic.

The workers were said to have quickly alerted the state police command. Meanwhile, the area has been certified safe following a thorough sweep of the area by the operatives. Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, of the command, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, confirmed the incident in a statement to newsmen adding that it has embarked on sensitizing members of the public to the need not to tamper with unexploded objects when found either during farming, road and building construction work, among others. “The public should promptly alert the state command operatives or the nearest police station, so that operatives can come and evacuate the object and render the area safe with their equipment”, the Police Spokesman appealed.
