Introduction: The Berlin Conference of 1884–85

Between 1884-85, a group of European men gathered in Berlin to share out various parts of Africa on a piece of paper – without regards to the indigenous people of Africa. This conference also known as the Congo Conference or West Africa Conference is what had placed Africa backwards till this day. The conference, which was called to moderate the “scramble for Africa” that was threatening to tear Europe apart, ushered in a period of heightened colonial activity by European powers. It eliminated or overrode existing rights of Africans and any form of African autonomy and self-governance.

The Africa of today clings tenaciously to the 1885 Boundaries of the Congress of Berlin. Only when this colonial paradigm is broken will Africa be truly free to form itself into its actual constituent states and assume its status as a world power.

As a former political prisoner, I know better than most that the corrupt dictators of Africa cannot be salvaged. Only through a radical solution can Africa be liberated from an endless cycle of exploitation and corruption. The key to freedom is in the map of Africa, tear down the colonial era boundaries and only then can Africa rebuild. Africans suffer under the political map of former colonial empires, all those who are in favor of the status quo in Africa stand in the way of progress and freedom.

We are a new IGO dedicated to providing strategic services to the emerging nations of Africa and their citizens.

OEAS member states are united by one shared principle — they all seek self determination and believe self determination to be inevitable.

The colonial era borders of Africa must be shattered as an artificial construct of the 20th century. Just as the USSR dissolved, so too will the status quo in Africa which is propped up by economic and geopolitical interest inimical to the aspiration of Africans.

The OEAS is a NGO dedicated true freedom in Africa. Our principles are encompassed in the The Washington Declaration of 2010. This amazing document provides a road map for a free and prosperous Africa united in freedom.

The OEAS is a registered non profit corporation based in Washington DC with a General Assembly of States planned for Juba, South Sudan.

Declaration of Washington Establishing the Organization of Emerging African States

Preamble:

African peoples in the course of their history have been the victims of economic and political enslavement from within and without. The end of colonialism has not alleviated the plight of many Africans peoples who are still held in military subjection by aggressive, corrupt, and autocratic governments.

1. All just African governments derive their authority and power from the will of the people — unjust African governments ignore the will of the people.

2. It is the inalienable right of African peoples to organize their own governments based on principles that will best promote their welfare, happiness, and liberty.

3. The free and natural desires of any nation of peoples for liberty shall be allowed to develop unhindered unless it threatens or harms the common interest of all Africans.

4. There shall be no secret diplomacy that supports the status quo and unjust colonial era boundaries that hinder the development of self determination.

5. African peoples having common ideals and purposes shall coordinate their efforts to secure the liberty of their individual nations in order to promote overall stability and peace.

6. There shall be formed a league or organization of exiled African peoples seeking just government and self determination known as The Organization of Emerging African States.

The undersigned governments have suffered the destruction of their homes and lands by aggressors and occupiers. Despite persecution these governments have maintained their ideals in exile and stealth. The tyranny of the oppressors has not extinguished the hidden flame of liberty. They have been denied free speech, proper representation and fair trial. They have been denied the right to assemble, protest, and associate. They have been denied the right to enter into diplomatic discourse. Their peoples have been impressed into economic servitude, military service against their wills, and their economic resources exploited without fair return.

The signers of this document and those who may subsequently subscribe to it commit themselves to bringing forth the principles set forth herein.
